My husband and grandson's and I drove up close to the rear-view of the house, roofed porch had been removed, and the house stood vacant, but it was as if we were time traveling back to the days before cell phones and indoor plumbing. "If only the house could talk", we'd know so much more about all those who had lived here.
My great great grandmother Elizabeth Wilgus, had married Robert Farquhar October 17,1867 and it was here they had raised their children.
The home brick house was built in 1818 by Robert Farquhar on the farm bought by his father Allen Farquhar in 1792. Robert the first died in 1822;he left it to his son Robert the second who died 1876, who left it to his son Robert the third who married Elizabeth. Robert left it to his son Allen who owned it for many years. It was where he and his wife raised ten children. 5 generations had enjoyed home cooking, a warm fire and Christmas family gathering in the home.
When Allen passed away his son's Frank and Horace who never married lived him the home until there deaths, and then Allen Farquhar took over the care of the farm for many years remaining single as well. and after his death his brother John took ownership and sold the house and property.
Thank you for your blog and sharing all these wonderful photos. Without you, my bother Shawn nor I would've never seen these pictures or knew they exists.
