A Deam of a Life Time

 Mary Louise Lindman her husband Wilford  and her oldest daughter Diane and husband Reynold made the trek back east to visit the places Mary Louise had hear the stories her mother ( Gladys Bell Wolfe Parker) talked about. Gladys Mary Louise's mother had  told about her visit PA. in the 60's when she had gone in search of her roots and kin folk.

At that time she had visited with Allen Farquhar who owned and was living in the old family farmhouse, where his great grandmother had raised the family. And after her mother had passed away Mary Louise  began to dream of someday making the same trip and following in her mothers tracks and retracing her steps.

That dream was finally realized in September in 2002, after it had been discovered that Allen was still living, and still owned the old Farquhar family farm house. She was thrilled because it was one of her only links to her own great grandmother Elizabeth Farquhar who she knew very little about.

Her mother had documented the trip in the 60's in a journal, but she also put together  photo pages for her own family history. Her account fueled her daughter interest, and was a record for future generations.

Sadly this  was the last trip Mary Louise would take in search of her kin. She passed away shortly the following spring just after Allen in 2003. Yet the opportunity for the discover continues.

The Farquhar House five generations of parties and living

Photo taken in September 1944. Left to right daughter Ruth, mother Mary, and daughter Martha at the Rear view of the brick house built in 1818 by Robert Farquhar the 1st. built on the property that his father Allen Farquhar bought  in 1792. Robert the first died in 1882: He left it to his son Robert the second, who died in 1876. He left the house and farm to his son Robert the 3rd. 

He left it to his son Allen and both of wives raised 10 children there. They were the fifth generation of Farquhar’s to live there. This son Allen then owned the home but never married but occupied it care for it for many years.  At his death in 2003, the home was passed to his brother John who sold it.

A New porch on the Farquhar Family Home

The latest photos of the Robert Farquhar family home were taken in November of 2014.

Once the porch was restored the home now resembles the original homestead.

Another Look from the Pas

 Another photo was discovered of Farquhar home front among my Grandmother old photo's. She was very good for the most part about labeling photos thank heaven. The Old Farquhar Home 2013

As we drove toward the location of the farm. we found the street Redstone Church Rd.
And knew we were headed in the right direction.
